Marron Grower
AQUANUTRO’s MARRON GROWER is a complete diet suitable for
freshwater crayfish (Cherax tenuimanus) raised under intensive conditions.
Although marron feed primarily on readily available plant detritus, growth
response is excellent on artificial and nutrient-dense diets. Since marrons
are poikilotherms, pond temperatures must be above 20°C for good growth,
and grow-out of marron is limited to the warm summer season. Therefore it is
crucial to achieve fast growth during this short grow-out period with this
marron grower diet, reducing costs for producers and increasing net return.
Diets for marron must be nutritious, water stable, palatable, and economical.
Crustaceans are slow feeders and diet stability is important. The diet must
allow for consumption without loss of nutrients due to leaching. Good water
quality is crucial, whether the diet acts as an indirect or direct source of
nutrients. Excessive eutriphication through poor feed pellet binding is often
a big problem in production ponds. This diet meets the sinkability criteria
for crustacean feed of 95% within 5 seconds. Thereafter it offers a very stable
food source with minimum leaching for up to six hours. It has the texture,
density and attractiveness to elicit optimum feeding response. Expanded Marron
pellets has numerous advantages over compressed pellets
- Its unique manufacturing process fuses proteins,
vitamins, minerals and flavours into a homogeneous product.
- Extrusion causes gelatinisation and dextrinisation, increasing
the availability of carbohydrates to digestive enzymes
and hence resulting in improved
digestion.
- The process neutralizes inhibitors and destroys anti-nutritional factors
in the raw materials, making the food safer.
- It maintains its structure in the water and is therefore more likely
to be eaten.
- It offers increased water stability, less nutrient leaching and superior
water quality.
