Trout pre-starter
AQUANUTRO’S TROUT PRE-STARTER is a unique range of granular feeds for Rainbow trout fry, developed through our research programme and produced by advanced extrusion technology. The rapid acceptance of TROUT PRE-STARTER through the yolk-sac absorption phase gives young fish the best possible start in the early stages of life.

Trout fry and small fingerlings need feeds of small particle size and high protein content. TROUT PRE-STARTER is available in various granule sizes (00,0,1,2,3,4,5) for the different development stages, each particle containing all the essential nourishment for assuring juveniles fast and regular growth. To make use of the advantages of gelatinisation, AQUANUTRO extrudes the feed, crushes it and screens it to appropriate size. We then encapsulate the particles with a vegetable-marine oil blend to improve water stability and floatability and reduce nutrient leaching into the water.

  • Swift acclimatization to the feed helps prevent fry size variations in the early stages of feeding.
  • Clean, dust-free granules minimize wastage and reduce gill-associated problems.
  • Temperatures and pressures during the extrusion process inactivate or destroy certain naturally occurring toxins and pathogenic organisms that may be harmful to sensitive fry and fingerlings.
  • Extrusion maximizes the use of available ingredients to create the most cost effective and nutritionally sound diets.

Trout Starter
AQUANUTRO’S TROUT STARTER is rich in protein and is not "diluted" with high levels of carbohydrates. Rainbow trout are carnivorous, and carbohydrates are not natural to their diet. They therefore have difficulty in digesting high levels of carbohydrates, particularly when presented in uncooked form. High levels of these carbohydrates lead to metabolic intolerance of starch loads, excessive glycogen accumulation in the liver, liver damage and consequent high mortalities.

AQUANUTRO’s process cooks the starch and extrudes it, so that it can be utilized as an energy source to a limited extent. Carbohydrates mainly contribute structurally to a water stable pellet, preventing leaching of expensive nutrients. The extrusion process also allows for versatility in feed density, texture and shape, and it improves mechanical durability. Aquanutro keeps the carbohydrate content of TROUT STARTER to an absolute minimum, to promote the health of the fish and retain excellent pellet conformation and stability.

Like all our feeds, TROUT STARTER has been formulated to maintain good water quality. Together with reduced levels of carbohydrate, the selection of highly digestible ingredients leads to low levels of ammonia and suspended solids. We keep unavailable phosphorus levels to a minimum by the use of low ash fishmeal. Extruded feeds are more digestible and nutrient utilization and feed efficiency are generally 5 to 15% better than that of pressed pellets. They are more durable than pressed pellets and offer better water stability, a reduction in the levels of fines and a cleaner system effluent.

Trout Grower
The grow-out phase of trout production is characterized by large volume feed usage. Raw material utilization and cost effective diets are key factors to economic viability in this extended phase.

To ensure that expensive protein is not used as an energy source, AQUANUTRO increased the energy levels of Trout Grower significantly to make use of the "protein sparing" properties of fats. This is crucial to the trout producer’s bottom line, since protein is much more expensive than fat. AQUANUTRO meets energy and fatty acids (from the linolenic [n-3] and linoleic [n-6] families) through a blend of vegetable and marine oils. With AQUANUTRO’S GROWER we have succeeded in slowing down the gradual increase in FCR with increasing weight to ensure maximum production profitability.

Trout Finisher
AQUANUTRO’S TROUT FINISHER is supplemented with Astaxanthin & Canthaxanthin - permitted sources of pigments - to improve the colour of cultured trout. These pigments are nature identical xanthophyll sources and therefore produce "nature identical" pigmentation. During fillet processing astaxanthin is more stable than canthaxanthin, especially over extended periods of storage. The TROUT FINISHER range is pigmented in line with industry recommendations, and all pellet sizes are available with astaxanthin added at a level of up to 40 ppm.

Trout Recreation
AQUANUTRO’s TROUT RECREATION was developed specifically for the trout angling industry as a supplementary diet to natural food found in ponds and rivers. Free-ranging trout regularly supplemented with this diet will have access to essential nutrients to maintain good fin quality and vitality.
